主讲人简介:
      Dr. Chen Shilin,哈里伯顿首席技术顾问(钻头方向),20年钻头及相关软件设计开发经验,专注研究PDC钻头设计及钻效提升。发表美国专利27项,其中17项已经被商业化,开发多套钻头设计及使用辅助软件。曾获2013年哈里伯顿发明家奖,2008年世界石油最佳钻井技术奖,2007年哈利伯顿杰出商业技术发明奖,2005年哈里伯顿年度发明人物等多个奖项。累计发表论文30多篇。任SPE Drilling & Completion 副主编,SPE Journal 等多个石油行业顶级杂志技术编辑。1982年本科毕业于中南大学机械系,1985年获武汉理工大学硕士学位,1995年获比利时列日大学博士学位。
      Chief technical advisor at Halliburton, Drillbit Service. 19 years industrial experience and 4 years of teaching experience as a university lecturer. Major achievements include:
(1) Developed a bit-drilling simulation software which helped DBS to develop and commercialize its “SE” PDC bit in 1995; 
(2) Developed an algorithm to identify bit whirling and stick-slip vibration from bit sensors which helped DBS to develop its industrial first “Instrumented Bit” in 1995;
(3) Developed a software called Roller Cone Bit Drilling Simulator. This work formed the base of Energy Balanced Roller Cone Bits (EB) which was commercialized in 2001. The success of EB series bits earned me Halliburton Innovator of the Year 2005 and Halliburton Outstanding Commercialized Invention of the Year 2007;
(4) Developed a theory to explain why PDC bits walk left in most cases and walk right in some other cases. Based on the theory, I developed a software to predict PDC bit walk and steer-ability which was commercialized as “Direction by Design” (DxD) in 2008. DxD was in the finalist of World Oil Best Drilling Technologies in 2008;
(5) Developed a theory called “Multi-Level Force Balance” (MLFB) to improve drilling efficiency and enhance PDC bit stability in 2009. MLFB was commercialized in 2012 which helped me to win Halliburton Invention Award of 2013;
(6) Developed PDC bits with two layer cutting structures which earned me Halliburton Invention Award of 2014;
(7) My recent development work include “Advanced Layout of Depth of Cut Controller” and “PDC Bit Drilling Efficiency Model”; 
I hold a BS degree from Central South University (China), a MS degree from Wuhan University of Technology (China) and a PhD degree from University of Liege (Belgium). I have been an associate editor of SPEDC since 2009, a technical editor of SPE Journal & JCPT. I hold 27 US patents (17 of which have been commercialized) and have published over 30 technical papers.
